Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.65%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which rose 0.52% or 0.07 points to trade at 13.60 at the close. Klepierre (PA:LOIM) added 0.31% or 0.13 points to end at 42.31 and Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) was up 0.04% or 0.05 points to 112.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which lost 2.12% or 0.98 points to trade at 45.50 in late trade. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 2.09% or 0.28 points to end at 13.36 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) shed 1.81% or 0.72 points to 39.09.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Iliad (PA:ILD) which rose 1.93% to 174.30, Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which was up 1.71% to settle at 79.63 and Vicat (PA:VCTP) which gained 1.57% to close at 56.89.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 4.04% to 4.161 in late trade, CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which lost 2.92% to settle at 22.5700 and Neopost (PA:NPOS) which was down 2.73% to 23.48 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 439 to 168 and 130 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.15% to 19.53.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.30% or 4.05 to $1325.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.58% or 0.27 to hit $47.04 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.75% or 0.37 to trade at $49.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1277, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.8556.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 94.75.
