Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.98%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which rose 6.57% or 2.02 points to trade at 32.87 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) added 4.78% or 0.367 points to end at 8.047 and Technip (PA:TECF) was up 4.67% or 2.15 points to 48.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP), which lost 1.01% or 0.93 points to trade at 91.58 in late trade. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 0.69% or 0.10 points to end at 14.29 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) shed 0.66% or 0.40 points to 59.90.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 7.91% to 3.289, CGG (PA:GEPH) which was up 6.67% to settle at 0.6400 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which gained 6.57% to close at 32.87.
The worst performers were Vicat (PA:VCTP) which was down 5.72% to 50.93 in late trade, Havas (PA:HAVA) which lost 3.38% to settle at 7.095 and Alten (PA:LTEN) which was down 2.14% to 51.13 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 455 to 202 and 108 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.35% to 34.88.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.46% or 6.00 to $1292.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.83% or 1.31 to hit $47.52 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 3.18% or 1.50 to trade at $48.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1268, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7873.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 94.38.
