Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB), which rose 1.66% or 1.28 points to trade at 78.28 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) added 1.40% or 1.55 points to end at 112.35 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.30% or 0.41 points to 32.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elia (BR:ELI), which lost 0.01% or 0.005 points to trade at 47.095 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 0.02% or 0.01 points to end at 23.20 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) gained 0.15% or 0.070 points to 46.785.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 96 to 44 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.50% or 6.75 to $1355.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.95% or 1.38 to hit $48.17 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 0.97 to trade at $50.82 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1338, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8625.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 94.26.
